Depression is not a myth, it is a medical condition

Oversleeping or going to lack of sleep

Over eating or too much starving
Eating disorder is also a symptom of depression. If you have been overeating or starving yourself, seek help ASAP. You are hurting not only mentally and emotionally but also physically.
Overwhelmed with emotions
If your loved one is overwhelmed all the time with extremes of emotions like sadness, frustration, anxiety, panic, etc please handle with sensitivity and listen to them and what they have to say.
Having more negative thoughts
There is nothing to live for, I am good for nothing, No one loves and cares for me, etc. If all these negative thoughts start creeping inside you and bring darkness, remember you are not alone and you are really loved. Ask for help.
Being distant from everyone or anyone
If negative thoughts start creeping, don’t distant yourself from your friends and family. If you see someone close to you being distant, it’s a queue for you to understand their condition.
Being physically inactive
If a person is avoiding any physical activity that he does in his daily life, like going to college or work, not playing a sport he usually plays, not going out of the house are also few signs.
Major change in weight
If you notice sudden gain in the weight or loss in weight of a person, it is beneficial to go and see the doctor.
Lack of concentration
Lack of concentration, zoning out, etc are also issues faced by people suffering depression.
